IRVINE, Calif. — April 16, 2013

Company appoints global operations executive to accelerate commercialization efforts

Enevate Corporation, a leading developer of advanced rechargeable Lithium-ion (Li-ion) batteries, is pleased to announce that Kirk Shockley has joined its executive management team as the vice president of operations and quality.  In this role, Mr. Shockley will lead global manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and sourcing for Enevate’s Li-ion batteries utilizing its novel HD-Energy® Technology.

Based in Irvine, California, Enevate is focused on developing next generation Li-ion batteries for smartphones, tablets, and ultra-thin notebook PCs, delivering significantly higher energy density in thinner form factors to enable longer runtimes in less space.  Its novel HD-Energy Technology utilizes silicon composite anodes for rechargeable Li-ion polymer batteries which dramatically increase energy density over conventional graphite anode cells.

“Kirk is a seasoned executive with extensive experience worldwide in bringing component products from development to high-volume production,” said Brian Wong, CEO of Enevate. “His broad manufacturing and supply chain expertise in the US and overseas are ideal for leading Enevate’s manufacturing operations as we move towards full commercialization of battery products in the coming year.”

Mr. Shockley has over 31 years of operations experience across North America, Europe, and Asia.  Prior to Enevate, he was COO at Global Solar Energy, a developer and manufacturer of thin-film solar products.  Before that, Mr. Shockley was with KEMET Electronics for 18 years in various executive and management roles, including VP of the Film and Electrolytic business group in Europe, VP of global corporate acquisition and integration activities, and general manager.  Earlier, he was with Fuji Photo Film and Union Carbide in various manufacturing and management positions.  Mr. Shockley is trained in six sigma and lean manufacturing, and holds a BS in Industrial Management from Purdue University.
