IRVINE, Calif. – May 13, 2025 – Enevate, a pioneering battery innovation company enabling extreme fast charge and high energy density battery technologies for electric vehicles (EVs) and other markets, JR Energy Solution (JR ES), a leader in the design of high-performance lithium-ion battery electrodes and cells, announce a plan to build battery cells for electric trucks.
Last month, in a joint press release with SCAQMD, Enevate announced it had received an award to build cells for a groundbreaking Class 4/5 e-truck trial aimed at demonstrating 15-minute fast charging. A fleet operator will deploy the e-truck in the Los Angeles area for daily deliveries. The project is designed to showcase the increased viability of these delivery trucks through fast-charging technology.
“The high-quality manufacturing capabilities of JR ES, combined with their agility in creating custom cell designs, allow us to effectively serve various applications and markets, particularly the demanding requirements of electric trucks. We see significant potential in this market, especially by leveraging Enevate’s fast charge silicon cell technology,” said Bob Kruse, CEO of Enevate.
Development of the cell is complete. Next, JR ES will begin cell manufacturing, expected to begin in June/July. The cell is based on Enevate’s silicon cell fast charge technology and will be able to do 4C fast charge every cycle for 2,000 cycles to 80% capacity retention. It will have a capacity of 59Ah.
“Enevate’s fast charge cell technology is a great opportunity to showcase JR ES’s expertise and commitment to high quality manufacturing,” said JR Energy Solution CEO Duke Oh. “Our vision is to simplify the path for partners and customers to obtain high-performance, highly engineered cells, and this collaboration is a significant step in that direction for the electric truck market.”
This collaboration between Enevate and JR Energy Solution exemplifies the power of synergy in the battery industry. Their combined expertise not only delivers a high-performance fast-charge cell for electric trucks but also sets a precedent for how innovative companies can work together to overcome technical challenges and accelerate the adoption of advanced solutions. By combining Enevate’s cutting-edge fast-charging cell technology with JR Energy Solution’s manufacturing expertise, this partnership accelerates the development and deployment of electric truck technology, paving the way for a more sustainable and efficient transportation future in regions like the Los Angeles area and beyond. This cooperative spirit is essential for the continued growth and evolution of the electric vehicle market.

ABOUT JR ENERGY SOLUTION (www.jrenergysolution.com)
JR Energy Solution, Inc., a company boasting expertise in manufacturing battery electrodes (both cathodes & anodes), was established as a designated electrode foundry in December 2022 by a group of highly experienced battery professionals.
As electrodes are a key determinant of performance, safety, longevity, and thus the overall quality of a battery, their production requires high technical skills with a significant amount of capital expenditures (Capex) in plants and machinery. Such technical complexities and huge financial burdens have consequently created a high barrier that is well known as one of the main characteristics of the electrode manufacturing process.
JR Energy Solution’s vision is to enable various customers to accelerate their development process and outsource parts of their production capacity to successfully launch their battery products in the market and to become the TSMC of the battery industry with its unique foundry business model including cutting-edge production lines along with highly experienced production professionals.
JR Energy Solution started initial production with 500MWh of annual paired electrode capacity (500 MWh cathode + 500 MWh anode) and is subsequently preparing additional 2GWh of annual paired capacity from Q1/2025 in South Korea.
