Responsibilities:

    • Provide project leadership to design electrolyte formulations for Si/C anode cell chemistry to achieve long cycle life and calendar life for EV application.
    • Provide project leadership to design electrolyte formulations for LCO, NCM, and NCA cell chemistry to achieve long cycle life and calendar life for EV application.
    • Conduct and analyze data from studies on liquid electrolytes, polymer electrolytes, ionic liquids, solid-state electrolytes, additives, and salts, and provide technical assessment of their potential application.
    • Test promising electrolyte formulas and identify technical benefits and issues to further optimize electrolyte formulations.
    • Investigate hypotheses related to the function of electrolyte components using electrochemical and analytical techniques.
    • Maintain an understanding of the state-of-the-art electrolyte technology through literature review and vendor collaborations.
    • Collaborate with engineering, R&D, and marketing teams to identify and meet all requirements and targets.

Qualifications Preferred

  • Experience in lithium-ion battery electrolytes, especially in the electric vehicle space, will be positively considered.
  • Specific experience with Si/C anode chemistry is highly desired.
  • Experience in analytical techniques such as Karl Fischer, GC, SEM, TEM, DSC, EDS, XRD, HF titration, etc. is desired.

Required Education/Experience:

  • Ph.D. in relevant field with 7+ years post-degree in commercial/industrial R&D, 5+ years working on electrolyte formulations for production lithium-ion batteries.
  • M.S. or B.S. with 10+ years of experience with deep knowledge in lithium-ion chemistry and battery components, especially in liquid electrolytes, will be considered.
